Gene targeting and new frontiers in neuroscience

On Monday 17th October, at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei Auditorio’s building in via della Lungara 230 Roma, from 9:30 am, will be held the international workshop “Gene Targeting and new Frontiers in Neuroscience", presented by EBRI “Rita Levi-Montalcini” Foundation, in remembrance of Professor Rita Levi-Montalcini. The workshop will be opened by the Nobel Prize Mario Capecchi, who will conduct the “EBRI Rita Levi-Montalcini Lecture” 2016.

Malnutrition and food safety: from theory to practice. Trends and scenarios for design in PvS

 

On Thursday 13th October 9 am, at Aula Organi Collegiali will be carried out, by AMKA Onlus and Roma Sapienza Foundation, the event entitled “Malnutrition and food safety: from theory to practice. Trends and scenarios for design in PvS”. The purpose of the meeting is to understand change and scenarios which are currently affecting this issue and therefore to identify new guidelines that lead to more efficient interventions. AMKA onlus will directly participate to the debate presenting the outcomes of their last research on the Congolese context. The meeting will end up with a lunch and a networking coffee, dedicated to stimulate meeting and linking among field’s experts.

Erasmus+ Unipharma-Graduates scholarships

The Erasmus+ Unipharma-Graduates Project provides 46 scholarships for internships in Chemistry, Pharmaceutics and Biotechnology in European research centres. The call is reserved to students who are in their final year or ready to graduate in one of the following Masters Programmes: Biology; Agricultural Biotechnology; Industrial Biotechnology; Medicine, Veterinary or Pharmaceutical Biotechnology; Pharmacy; Industrial Pharmacy; Chemical Science; Science and Technology of Industrial chemistry [deadline: Tue. Transfers to Medicine Degrees Programmes

Sapienza accepts transfers to its Medicine Programmes (Medicine and Surgery, English-language Medicine Programme, Dentistry and Dental Prostheses) by students who have completed one or more years at other universities. 

All transfers are subject not only to student records and evaluation, but also to available places for each year. Transfers are not accepted for students who are fuori corso or who have failed exams.

The documentation necessary for the Medicine and Surgery Programme in English (Programme F) may be presented in English.

Sapienza periodically issues a new call to identify housing for university students through agreements with agencies and individual house owners.

 

Sapienza Guest House

Sapienza University visitors partaking in conferences or seminars or who have been invited by Sapienza for a period of study or research are welcome to stay at the Sapienza Guest House.

The guest house is available to visiting professors and scientists, researchers and assistants, scholarship recipients, graduates and technical administrative staff from Italian and foreign universities provided they are invited by one of the faculties or departments at Sapienza. The Sapienza Guest Residence also houses students enrolled in the Senior School for Advanced Studies.

Course for Italian lecturers in collaboration with Oxford University EMI Centre

The Language Centre of the University​ of Padova is organizing a course on EMI for ltalian lecturers in collaboration with Oxford University EMI Centre from 19th to 23rd September 2016​ ​The leading course tutors are Ernesto Macaro, Director of EMI Oxford, the Centre for Research and Development in English Medium Instruction, and Julie Dearden, senior researcher. ​ ​The course is open to Italian lecturers who teach, or are going to teach their subject through English.​ The cost of the 5-day course is 800 Euros and the deadline for applications is 30th June. National Day against Leukemias, Limphomas and Myeloma

Giornata Nazionale contro le leucemie, linfomi e mieloma - 21 Giugno 2016

On Tuesday 21st June 2016 will be carried out the event “National Day against Leukemias, Limphomas and Myeloma”.  Under the tutelage of the Republic President, the event is dedicated to a new topic every year.

The national awareness-raising campaign is entrusted to AIL (Italian Association against Leukemias-Limphomas-Myeloma Onlus) which drives many initiatives locally.

At the same time AIL hematologic section will provide a call center service by calling their toll-free number 800226524. This service is active from 8am to 8pm and dedicated to patients' questions, to which our most prestigious hematological doctors will answer.  

Moreover we are glad to point out the “Dreaming Itaca” project, a great sailing boat trip with professionals skippers, rehabilitation patients, doctors, nurses and psychologist which sail together with the purpose to raise awareness among hematological diseases experts about this sailing-boat therapy for patients' psycho-rehab and improvement of their living quality

Musica Sapienza for European Music Day

On Tuesday 21st June 9pm, Musica Sapienza will take part in the 22nd edition of European Music Day with the exhibition of their Big Band MuSa Jazz directed by Silverio Cortesi. The concert will take place at the Archeological  Museum of Agro Falisco-Forte Sangallo in Civita Castellana.

Inauguration of the new Medical Library's premise

On Tuesday 21st June at 9:30am, a new Medical Library's premise will be inaugurated in Viale Castro Pretorio. The event will presented by Rossana Rummo, director of Libraries and Cultural Institutions (DGBIC), Domenico Alessio, director of Policlinico Umberto I company, Andrea De Pasquale, director of Rome National Library and by Lucia Marchi, director of Medical State Library. Then will follow a lectio magistralis entitled “The teaching of Medicine from Lancisi to nowadays” held by Sapienza’s Chancellor Eugenio Gaudio.

Moreover a new website gives to the users the opportunity to benefit from all of the bibliographic services, even from remote devices through the Ermes system. Thanks to a collaboration with Sapienza, will be also furnished a connection to SBS network (Sapienza Library System), which allow users to access on line data banks and Sapienza’s electronic magazines.

SAPIENZA FOUNDATION AWARDS CEREMONY

On Monday, June 20 4:30 pm at the Aula Magna in the Rectorate Building (Piazzale Aldo Moro 5, Rome), Sapienza University and the Sapienza Foundation will host the 2016 ceremony for the presentation of awards and scholarships assigned to the best and most meritorious students

The Sapienza Foundation’s institutional objective is to promote studying and research, assigning scholarships and awards to students and graduates who excel in their university programmes, and incentivise excellent results, including awards in memory of Manuel Castello, Emanuela Schiavo, Luigi Spaventa, Fernando Vianello and  Giovan Battista Baroni.

The awards ceremony will be opened by Sapienza Rector Eugenio Gaudio and the President of the Sapienza Foundation Antonello Biagini. Professor Natalino Irti will hold a short lecture on “Reflections on Technique.”

Moreover, to celebrate of the 70th Anniversary of the Italian Republic and of universal suffrage female, a honorary “Noi Sapienza Alumni Association” member title will be conferred to three women who graduated from Sapienza University of Rome during the Second World War.

Furthermore, an award will be presented to the IceCream Team, the students and researchers, who recently won the Global Award Competition promoted by NASA’s “International Space Apps Challenge 2016” in the Galactic Impact category.

The ceremony will be end with a concert performance by MuSa.

Food and culture

On Thursday 9th and Friday 10th June, in the Dean’s Building, will be held a conference entitled “food and culture” which aim is to face the complex reality of the food after Expo and develop a debate about the relationship between food and society in our current time. This debate will show the essential contribute that food history and the reality of our society gave to build our individual identities up. Nowadays, with the incessant widening of the gap between the food access in the rich countries and the alimentary needs in the poor ones, identify new production and delivery strategies of food products have become topic of broad interest among experts in the field. This debate will be the opportunity to connect 120 researchers from several countries, who will approach these topics in a interdisciplinary way. The conference program is organized in different thematic sessions, divided into 25 panel. This meeting will keep on the thread brought in the previous conferences (Empires and Nations from the Eighteenth to the Twentieth Century, 2013; The Great War: Analysis and Interpretation, 2014; Fashion through History: Costumes, Symbols, Communication, 2015).

First global day for eating disorders

On Thursday 2nd June 03 pm, at the Botanical Garden of Sapienza, will be held the “first global day for eating disorders” organized by SISDCA- Italian society for the study of eating disorders, in collaboration with Sapienza and SICS- Italian society of scientific communication. The event’s purpose is to raise awareness about eating disorders within public opinion and institutions, since they need efficient policies for prevention and assistance. Guest of the event is Giancarlo Magalli who will carry out the conference.
